LEARNx has re-designed how and why people learn English using human centered design. LEARNx is a one-on-one online video platform for English language learning designed to improve the speaking fluency, confidence, and communication skills of students and working professionals in Asia. The platform connects native, near native, and fluent English speakers worldwide with local Thai audiences to provide a safe, personal, convenient and immersive English speaking environment. In addition to offering a total blended learning solution, LEARNx also provides an offline community of skill-based workshops and activities to support language learning and practice using English in a functional capacity.

Based in Thailand, our core team is a fun and dynamic mix of educators, academics, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs striving for social and economic impact. Bilingual in both English and Thai, our educational backgrounds span institutions such as Columbia, Stanford, HULT, Elon, Edinburgh and Princeton. We are passionate about designing English language learning innovation that meets the everyday needs of working professionals.

Viria Vichit-Vadakan LEARNx Managing Director

VIRIA VICHIT-VADAKAN
Managing Director

With a passion for education and social entrepreneurship, prior to LEARNx, Viria founded the Bachelor of Arts program in Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship (GSSE) and a social innovation lab “G-Lab” at the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University, Thailand. Before G-Lab, she was a Manager at Ashoka and IDEO.org. Viria graduated from Stanford University with a graduate training in Design Thinking from the Stanford Design Institute (d.school). She also received an Executive Coaching Certificate from the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute.

Dr. Paul Apivat Hanvongse LEARNx Head of Education and Organization Development

Paul leads the Academic Team for LEARNx. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship (GSSE) Bachelors of Arts program at Thammasat University. Paul is interested in how technology and data can be used for human development in schools and organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Thammasat University; a Master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa, and a Doctorate in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

Teri Yuvadee Horn LEARNx Head of Teacher Network & Community

Teri focuses on community network management, business development, workshops and content creation. Previously running a family business in recreation and hospitality, Teri's passion turned towards education and has since worked for Bangkok School of Management, StartupMalaysia.org, and most recently UNESCO. She holds a MSc in Innovation, Strategy and Entrepreneurship from Grenoble Graduate School of Business, France, and a BSc in Event Management from Elon University, USA.

With a background in engineering, Wissarut has helped built many cutting-edge education technology products. Prior to joining LEARNx, he worked as a process engineer at Fabrinet. Once he discovered that his true passion lies in education, he became a business developer for one of Thailand's largest tutoring service provider OnDemand Education. He holds a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Chulalongkorn University and a Master's degree in International Business from HULT International School, Boston.

Toungrat Sangchote LEARNx Education Manager

Education Manager

Inspired by the saying "A good teacher is like a candle; it consumes itself to light the way for others", Toungrat, also known as Kru Toung, has been teaching English for adults for almost 10 years. She specializes in English for exams such as IELTs, CU-TEP, TU-GET and TOEIC. She herself achieved the TOEIC score of 990. Kru Toung is eager to show students how to combine their passions with English learning.

Linguistic Specialist

Phakhasiree is an education specialist, helping LEARNx in curriculum design, pedagogy and content development. She has been working in the language field for 5 years, as a teacher, as a translator and as an author. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh, with a Master's in Language Education, and a training at Oxford University focusing on adults learning and technology and language learning.

Chanida works closely with Dr. Paul Apivat on designing the curriculum and the lessons for our LEARNx English learners. She received a Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Chanida became interested in the academic field as a freshman in college. She has over 5 years of English teaching experience and is well familiar with the challenges of Thailand's English language learning system. Chanida decided to join LEARNx because she would like to create positive impact in Thai education.

Dollaya Hirunyasiri LEARNx Business Development Executive

Business Development Executive

Dollaya works closely with Kru Toung and is responsible for developing new products to serve primary and secondary schools students. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Dollaya is determined to play a part in improving the education system in Thailand.

Patteera works to help LEARNx grow, scale and achieve its mission. She sees education as a tool to achieve sustainable human development and an enabling factor for more economic opportunities. Prior to joining LEARNx, she worked with USAID and UNESCO. She received her Bachelor’s in English from the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University and is currently a Master’s degree candidate in International Economics and International Development at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
